The city of Chicago is gearing up for the holiday season, which means the annual Magnificent Mile Holiday Lights Festival is just around the corner.
This festival is well-known in Chicago as a day of celebration before the Magnificent Mile is illuminated with lights to officially mark the start of the holiday season. This year’s festival will take place on Nov. 23, with the festivities beginning at 11 a.m.
Start the your day with with some special musical guests set to perform throughout the day. Popular names in the music industry such as Deborah Gibson, Megan Nicole, and Megan and Liz are scheduled to take the stage to get the crowd into the holiday spirit. All performances will be held at the BMO Harris Bank Stage on N. Michigan Ave., according to the festival website.

As darkness sets upon the city at the end of the day, get ready for the tree-lighting parade. Mickey and Minnie Mouse
are making their way to Chicago all the way from Florida to lead the parade along with a few of their friends from Disney World. Watch the Disney crew as they make their way down the Magnificent Mile that will be lit up with millions of twinkling lights to ring in the holiday season. The parade also features giant balloons, marching bands and other musical acts. The website states that the parade will start at 5:30 p.m. at Oak St. and Michigan Ave., and will move south on Michigan Ave. to Wacker Dr.
After the streets have been lit and the parade has concluded, stick around to watch the grand finale of the night: A spectacular fireworks display over the Chicago River at Michigan Ave.. The fireworks will start at 6:55 p.m., according to the festival website.
