Halloween is rapidly approaching, so if you’re looking to do something spooky in Chicago, head over to Navy Pier and step inside the Fear Haunted House.
This award-winning haunted house was rated one of Haunted Attraction Magazine‘s 25 Must See Haunts for 2009, and voted Chicago’s #1 haunted house in 2008, according to the Fear Haunted House website.
What kind of evil lurks in this house of horrors? You’ll encounter clowns, zombies, werewolves, vampires and other monsters that are hungry for your blood, and have no intention of letting you leave.
The Fear Haunted House gives you the eerie background behind one of Chicago’s top Halloween events before you make the bold decision to step inside:
“The Captain has traveled the globe in search of the darkness. Under his command, the captain’s crew has captured the most feared creatures known to man. Chained in shipping containers, these beasts claw for their freedom and wait for their revenge.
It is not known why the Captain has collected such evil cargo.
What is known is that you have been chosen to join his dark crew.
At the Captain’s command you will walk through this twisted cage of pain, and find The Fear before it finds you.”
If this spine-chilling adventure isn’t for you, (or if you have small children) try visiting the Fear Haunted House during the day when the lights are on and the scares are toned down for a younger audience.
For those who looking to have the scare of their life, be sure to visit the House during the evening; the lights are off, and the atmosphere becomes more intense for a more mature audience, according to the website.
If you’re feeling brave, the Fear Haunted House is open Thursday through Sunday evenings until Halloween night.

If you don’t make it out alive, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
